This article explains how to import bulk Firewall Rules from a .csv file
- This article applies only to MCP 2.0 Data Center locations.
- Only the Primary Administrator or a Sub-Admin with the Network role can import Firewall Rules to a Network Domain.
- This article assumes you understand the behavior of Firewall Rules in an MCP 2.0 Data Center location. For details on this behavior, see: Introduction to Firewall Rules for Cloud Network Domains in MCP 2.0
From the Home page, select the Data Center where the Network Domain into which you want to import a Firewall Rule list is deployed:
The Data Center dashboard will be displayed. Select the Network Domain into which you want to import a Firewall Rule:
The Network Domain dashboard will be displayed. Click on the Firewall Rules tab:
Click on the Actions menu and select Import Firewall Rules from the drop-down menu:
The Import Firewall Rules dialog will be displayed:
Click on the Browse button to find the desired firewall rule list .csv file on your local computer. Once you have selected the correct file, click Open:
The Import Firewall Rules dialog will be displayed, and the Firewall Rule policy will be populated into the dialog. Click on the Add Firewall Rules button to begin the import of the Firewall Rule policy:
The system will begin to import the Firewall Rules. The progress of the operation will be displayed in the Import Firewall Rules dialog:
Note: Pressing the escape key on your keyboard wWhile hile the .csv file is importing will close the Import dialog, but the operation will continue to run in the background.
Once complete, The Import Firewall Rules dialog will display which Firewall Rules were successfully imported
, and which Firewall Rules failed :Note: Any Firewall Rules that currently exist on the Network Domain, (such as the default Firewall rules in the above screenshot) will fail to import. You should review the results for any failed rules that you want to import. If you discover any rules that you want to import, click the Download Failed Rules button. The system will download only the failed Firewall Rules into another .csv file titled "failed_rules.csv", which you can then import again.
Note: To avoid having existing Firewall Rules fail to import, you can edit the .csv file prior to importing to remove them.
Once you are satisfied that the all desired Firewall Rules have been imported, click the Done button to close the Import Firewall Rules dialog:Note: You can now edit the Firewall Rules to make any necessary changes. See How to Manage Firewall Rules on a Network Domain
The Firewall Rules will be added to the Network Domain:
