Describes Cloud policy related to RedHat's end-of-life support of RHEL 4 and 5

Content / Solution:

In accordance with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Life Cycle policy, Red Hat will discontinue the regular subscription services for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5. Therefore, new bug fix, enhancement, and security errata updates, as well as technical support services will no longer be available as part of their normal support services.

This will affect Cloud customers in the following ways:

  1. All Red Hat 4 & 5 images will be removed from the OS Images inventory. Customers wishing to continue to deploy RHEL 4 or 5 servers need to make sure they've created Customer Images with RHEL 4 & 5
  2. All Red Hat 4 & 5 servers deployed by clients and Customer Images will remain operational. Clients may continue to import Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 & 5 images using their licenses.
  3. However, any clients continuing to use existing Red Hat Enterprise 4 & 5 servers or Images need to understand that it is no longer supported by Red Hat or on the Cloud.
  4. Clients wishing to participate in Red Hat's Life Cycle extension program to obtain an additional 3 years of support will need to contact Red Hat and purchase the entitlements necessary, then relicense their existing servers with the new entitlements to leverage RedHat's extended support.

In all cases, Cloud support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5 will be rendered on a "best effort" basis only.
