Description
This article describes how to view and manage Tag Keys for your organization. For an explanation of Tagging, See: Introduction to Tagging, Tag Keys and Tag Values.
It is important to note that Tagging is only available in MCP 2.0 Data Center locations.
Prerequisites:
The Primary Administrator, or a User with the Tag role can manage tag keys.
Also, Users with specific Resource roles can manage Tags for their specified Resources. For example, a User with the Network role can manage Tags on a Network, but not on a Server; a User with the Server role can manage Tags on a Server, but not on a Network, etc.
Content / Solution:
Click on the Compute button and select Manage Tag Keys from the drop-down menu:
You will be directed to the Manage Tag Keys dashboard:
Manage a Tag Key
Identify the Tag Key you want to manage and click on the Manage gear, then select Edit Tag Key from the dropdown menu:
The Edit Tag Key dialog will be displayed:
From this dialog, you can edit various aspects of the Tag Key, including:
Name - Name of the Tag Key - Maximum of 128 characters allowed.
Note that the use of "~" (Tilde) is not permitted, and the Name can not begin or end with a space.
Note that Tag Keys and Tag Key Values are NOT case sensitive.
Description - Description of the Tag Key - maximum of 255 characters allowed.
Value Required - This box identifies whether or not a User will be required to provide a Value when applying the Tag Key to a Cloud resource going forward.
Report Display - This field identifies whether you want the Tag Key to appear as a column on the Detailed Usage report.
Only 5 Tag Keys per Organization can be enabled to appear on the Detailed Usage Report at a given time.
Once the desired changes have been made, click the Save button to commit the changes:
The system will display a success message:
The edit will be applied and the UI will be updated to reflect the change:
