This article describes how to view and Clean your DRS Consistency Groups. Consistency Groups in a Failed Add or Failed Delete state can be cleaned.

Prerequisites:

  1. For Viewing Consistency Groups:
    1. Only the Primary Administrator or a user with the DRS role can manage Consistency Groups. For instructions on how to add Roles to a Sub-Administrator, see How to Manage the Primary Administrator User and other Sub-Administrators as the Primary Administrator
  2. To Clean a Failed Consistency Group:
    1. Only the Primary Administrator or a user with the DRS role can manage Consistency Groups
    2. Consistency Group must be in a Failed Add or Failed Delete state
    3. DRS Service cannot be In Maintenance
    4. Consistency Group Source and Target Data Centers cannot be in Hypervisor Maintenance

Important Note

Unlike most CloudControl functions, only Primary Administrators or sub-administrators with the DRS role will even see the DRS for Cloud menu that is needed to view and manage the DRS for Cloud functions. Ensure your users have the proper roles assigned - see How to Manage the Primary Administrator User and other Sub-Administrators as the Primary Administrator

Note that even when the roles are assigned, the menu appears only where the feature is available

How to View your Consistency Group(s)

  1. Click on the DRS for Cloud menu button and then select DRS Consistency Groups to navigate to the DRS Consistency Groups page:

     

  2.  The DRS Consistency Groups dashboard will be displayed:

    Note: If no Consistency Groups have been defined, the dashboard will display the following message:


  3. Click on the drop-down icon  to expand a menu which will display all of the Server Pairs that are associated with a Consistency Group:
     

    1. Clicking on the Server Name will navigate you to the Server dashboard for that Server. 
    2. You can click on the Manage gear on the right to initiate a Console session with the Source Server:

      Note: Hovering your mouse over the  DRS Icon will display a popup with additional information about the DRS Consistency Group:

    Important Note: If for some reason a Consistency Group deployment fails to deploy, you can follow the steps below to clean the failed Consistency Group

How to Clean a Failed Consistency Group

 

  1. Locate the Consistency Group that is in either a Failed Add or Failed Delete state:

    Note: Hovering your mouse over the  icon will display a popup which will tell you the State of a Consistency Group:


  2. Click on the manage gear of the failed Consistency Group and click on the Clean Failed Consistency Group button:


  3. The Clean Failed Consistency Group dialog will be displayed. Click Clean:


  4. The system will display a message indicating that the operation is in progress:


  5. The system will clean the Consistency Group:


  6. Once complete, the system will display a success message:


  7. The Consistency Group will be cleaned from the system:
