Description

This article describes how to configure an additional NIC in Microsoft Windows OS after it has been added to a Cloud Server. Note the specific steps vary between Windows 2008 and Windows 2012.


Prerequisites:

Windows 2008

  1. Click on the Start button, then right click on Network > Properties:

     

  2. Select “Change adapter settings”:


  3. On the new NIC, in this case “Local Area Connection 2”, right click it, then select “Properties”:


  4. Select “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” > Properties:


  5. From the CloudControl UI, collect the new NIC IP address and subnet mask information:


  6. Enter the IPv6 information, IP and subnet mask into the properties windows similar to below. Click OK when completed:


  7. Select “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” > Properties:


  8. Enter the IPv4 information, then click the OK button:


  9. Click the Close button:


  10. Click on Start button > Command Prompt:


  11. Enter “ipconfig /all | more” to verify the configuration is correct:

Windows 2012

  1. For Windows 2012 R2 systems, click on the Start button on the lower left hand side of the window:


  2. For non-R2 systems, move your mouse to the lower left corner until you see the Start menu, then click on the Start menu:


  3. Click on the Control Panel tile:


  4. If you don’t see the Network and Sharing Center on the upper right hand side, select View by > Small icons:


  5. Select Network and Sharing Center:


  6. Select Change adapter settings:


  7. On the new NIC, “Ethernet 2” in this case, right click it, then select Properties:


  8. Select “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), then click Properties:


  9. Enter the IP address and subnet mask information that you found on the CloudControl UI, then click the OK button:


  10. Select “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), then click Properties:


  11. Enter the IP address and subnet mask information, then click the OK button:


  12. Click the Close button:


  13. On the taskbar, select PowerShell:


  14. Enter “ipconfig /all | more” to verify the new IP address configuration:
